WHITESBURG RECREATION ASSOCIATION

Dear WRA Members:

The annual General Membership Meeting of the Whitesburg Recreation Association (WRA) will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010, from 7-8 in the Publix Meeting Room on Airport Road.

In accordance with the WRA Constitution, the agenda for the Annual General Membership Meeting will be as follows:

➢         Roll Call of Officers and Directors

➢         Election of Board of Directors

➢         2009 Annual General Membership Meeting Minutes

➢         Officer Reports including reveiw of the 2009 budget and proposed 2010 budget

➢         Old Business/New Business

On 1/25/06, the Board of Directors voted and adopted amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws.  The nature of the changes was to decrease the Board of Directors from 11 to 9 members, increased the terms to 3 year terms on a rotation cycle such that 3 new director positions are open every year, and other minor changes that permit use of the internet to conduct and communicate business.  We added a new sun deck during the off-season, as well as a portable basketball goal and a foosball table. For 2010 look for a new ping pong table and new electronic timing system for the swim team.

The election of Directors will be conducted during the Annual General Membership Meeting.  Nominations will be accepted from the floor during our meeting via the attached proxy.  The election of a Director requires a quorum either by attendance, by proxy or a combination of the two.  If your attendance is not possible, please complete the attached proxy and mail it to WRA Secretary, 610 Sanders Road, Huntsville, AL  35802, no later than March 15, 2010, so we may receive it prior to the General Membership Meeting.

We operated at a slight financial gain this year. We placed another $2,000 in a CD and hope to continue this for at least the next 4 years to have a sufficient savings account. With declining rolls, increases in wages, taxes, insurance, and cost of maintaining the facility, we are going to have to implement a plan to gain more revenue.  This will be accomplished by either raising the dues or by imposing an assessment or significant increase in membership.  This will be a primary discussion of the meeting.   

Included in this letter is an employment application.  The deadline for Head Swim Coach, Assistant Swim Coach, Head Swim Coach, Manager, Assistant Manager, Lifeguard, and Sub Lifeguard is March 15, 2010.  An e-mail application can be found on the website at www.whitesburgpool.org.   Direct all applications to:
